2008 WSOP Event #20: $2,000 Limit Hold'em

WSOP, 2008-06-13, by Ozone

For Daniel Negreanu, there must be something magical about the otherwise mundane $2,000 limit hold'em event at the WSOP. In the 2004 running, Negreanu triumphed over the field of 287 to win his third career bracelet. In the same event four years later, Negreanu bested a field of 480 for his fourth bracelet.

Negreanu's $204,000 first place prize was barely more than what it earned him in a sidebet. He and Phil Ivey have a bet in which one pays the other $200,000 for each bracelet won at this year's series. For what it's worth, Ivey might not have to wait long to get even: at the time of this article's publication, he is 2nd in chips with 35 players remaining in the $3,000 H.O.R.S.E. event.
